Decibels follow a logarithmic scale: a few points apart sounds like much more than the figure suggests. A reading taken idle and a reading taken while cutting are not the same value, and an accessory such as a side trimmer can be far louder than the body of the mower. If a neighbour or a patio is close, the published figure and the conditions it was measured in matter as much as the rest of the spec sheet.
