Airseekers ARANIX Unveiled: 4WD + 4WS Robotic Mower with Crab-Walk Mobility and 85% Slope Capability

Airseekers debuts its flagship ARANIX robot lawn mower at IFA Berlin, featuring 8-motor independent 4WD and 4WS steering, 85% slope climbing, FlowCut 2.0 dual cutting discs, and wire-free hybrid LiDAR-Vision navigation.

Airseekers ARANIX Unveiled: 4WD + 4WS Robotic Mower with Crab-Walk Mobility and 85% Slope Capability

Airseekers has officially unveiled its next-generation flagship robotic lawn mower, the ARANIX, at IFA Berlin 2026. The new machine marks a notable departure from conventional lawn mower designs, introducing an advanced automotive-grade drivetrain and omnidirectional maneuvering platform designed specifically for steep, rugged, and highly fragmented residential landscapes.

The ARANIX earned recognition right out of the gate, taking home honors in three categories at the IFA Innovation Awards 2026: Best in Smart Home, Best in Home Appliances, and Best in Design.

4WD + 4WS Architecture and Crab-Walk Mobility

The core mechanical breakthrough of the ARANIX lies in its independent four-wheel-drive (4WD) and four-wheel-steering (4WS) platform. Powered by eight dedicated motors (two per wheel assembly for propulsion and steering angle), every wheel can rotate and vector torque independently.

This configuration enables zero-radius turning, diagonal translation, and pure lateral “crab-walk” movement. On tight borders and near obstacles, the mower no longer needs to make multi-point reverse turns that tear up wet turf.

Supported by active independent suspension, the ARANIX is rated to climb slopes of up to 85% (40 degrees) and clear vertical obstacles up to 70 mm. This positions it directly against heavy-duty slope performers like the Lymow One Plus and the Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD 5000.

FlowCut 2.0 Dual-Disc Cutting Platform

To complement its high-traction chassis, Airseekers integrated the FlowCut 2.0 cutting and mulching system. Rather than relying on a single compact rotary plate, the ARANIX houses dual cutting discs carrying a total of 18 pivoting razor blades.

With an effective cutting width of 400 mm, the system processes a wider swath on every pass while creating an aerodynamic vacuum effect under the deck. The high-speed mulching reduces grass clippings into microscopic organic particles that decompose directly back into the soil, preventing clump formation even in damp morning grass. Furthermore, an optional edge-trimming module extends the cutting reach directly against walls and garden curbs to minimize manual perimeter trimming.

Multi-Sensor Fusion: 360° LiDAR and Visual SLAM

Moving away from pure vision or mandatory physical RTK base stations, the ARANIX adopts a hybrid sensor suite:

  • 360° solid-state LiDAR for real-time volumetric mapping and millimeter-accurate distance measurement.
  • 300° Vision SLAM camera array providing semantic AI recognition of dynamic yard hazards (toys, hoses, pets, and garden wildlife).
  • Network-assisted positioning combining multi-constellation GNSS with cellular correction data, eliminating the need for a separate physical RTK antenna mast in open yards.

According to Airseekers, this architecture allows autonomous boundary mapping and systematic stripe mowing on properties up to 2,000 m², maintaining centimeter-level trajectory accuracy even beneath dense tree canopies or beside multi-story facades where standard satellite signals degrade.
