At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Mammotion made a significant splash with the introduction of its new flagship robotic lawn mower: the LUBA 4 AWD series. This release marks a major leap forward for the brand, targeting the growing demand for precision edge-cutting and advanced navigation in the high-end residential market.

Enhanced Tri-Fusion 2.0 Navigation

The standout feature of the LUBA 4 AWD is its upgraded navigation system. Mammotion calls it “Enhanced Tri-Fusion 2.0,” a setup that combines 360-degree LiDAR, NetRTK positioning, and four wide-angle cameras. This triple-layered approach is designed to maintain positioning in environments where traditional RTK struggles, such as under dense tree canopies or near tall walls. The addition of four cameras also significantly improves obstacle avoidance, allowing the mower to detect and navigate around unexpected objects in real-time.

Solving the Edge-Trimming Problem

A major trend at IFA 2026 was the push towards true edge-to-edge mowing, and the LUBA 4 AWD addresses this directly. It features an optional edge-trimming module that extends outward to cut the grass right up against borders, walls, and fences. This aims to eliminate the need for manual string trimming, a common frustration for robot mower owners.

Omni-Directional Mobility

Building on the AWD heritage of the LUBA line, the new series introduces independent front-wheel steering and bidirectional driving. This means the mower can move in reverse and maneuver in tighter spaces without needing to pivot on its axis, which should significantly reduce the turf damage and “rutting” that heavy mowers often cause when turning on wet grass.

The LUBA 4 AWD series, including configurations capable of handling up to 12,000 m² like the 12000F, positions Mammotion firmly at the premium end of the market. While exact pricing is yet to be fully detailed (expect it to sit above the current LUBA 3 AWD range), the technology showcased at IFA indicates a strong focus on eliminating the remaining friction points in robotic lawn care.

While waiting for the LUBA 4 AWD to hit the market, buyers looking for high-capacity, wire-free mowing can consider the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 5000, which already offers excellent RTK navigation and AWD performance for large estates.
